Foster better communication between Police and Youth

Car crime has very little to do with cars and lots to do with a lack of respect for Police, something which is sadly widespread in our society. I think the slippery slope started with TV shows like the 'Dukes of Hazzard' and Movies such as 'Smokey and the Bandit' in the 70's which villified Police and created heroes out of law breakers, but the real nail in the coffin was the integration of Police and MOT in the 90's.
My 70yr old father used to indulge in this behaviour too as a youth but it's now more prevalent due to increased availability of cheap cars and finance, both of which are things that have benefited our society greatly in other ways.
Let's work on including our Youth in society through communication instead of isolating them with punitive measures.
