"There's a few reasons why they call 'The Great Depression' a Depression. Thinking that the situation is going to get worse can become a self fulfilling prophecy and lo and behold, the situation becomes worse.
I know people who are in very secure jobs who are cutting back on their spending for no reason other than they feel that given current economic situation this is what they are everyone is should and is doing. Obviously a reduction in spending has a knock on effect through the rest ..."
