Oiled hardwood flooring
Oiled hardwood floors are the best - look great, healthy stuff and very easy to maintain. To be honest, I do not understand why polyurethaned flooring is so popular in NZ (after carpeting, of course) - it is so expensive to sand off and re-coat, not to mention all the dust an chemicals. With oiled surface, all you need to do is to wash the floors with a damp cloth and apply special oil twice a year. We had acacia hardwood flooring in our house - beautiful... and felt so good to walk on barefoot (central underfloor heating, almost no chance to find such things in NZ, though :)
