"· People should pick places to live that are within cycling distance of their work, or pick jobs that distance from home. · In the 1980s I picked my job (physics teaching) within a one-hour-walking distance of my home in Greenhithe (where I still live)."

"So many benefits as others have mentioned. Let's now seek to get action to make improvements to the safety of cyclists. Taking bikes off the road and onto shared cycle/pedestrian paths is one way, though obviously not applicable all the time."

"I bike to the ferry, ferry to AK city, walk 8 mins to bus, bus to work. This trip takes me 40 mins or 1hour during the rush. Its a big change from walking 3 mins (we have recently moved) Its a steep toward biking the whole way, at least i've got rid of the car. Biking in AK city is very unfriendly, especially after biking around europe. Its gutting but AK drivers are a decade or two away from learning to share the road with cyclists. CHCH is better. If we are to see rapid change there ..."

"I ride to work (13km), never as often as I should. I do this purley for the exercise. A nice hill and the end of the day sure blows away any work issues in my head."

"I would like to cycle to Uni and part-time job but can't due to lack of bike storage/shower facilities. Do you own a Bike Shop in a shopping centre? How about providing bike storage and shower facilities to the staff in your neighbouring shops and local businesses! You could grow your bike servicing business, engage with your target market daily and sell more bikes while saving the environment. Anyone?"

"I walk to work (even in the rain). It is 7.2Km and i don't do it for the economy or for the fuel savings, purely because i need the exercise. The added bonus is that it clears my head and allows me to hit the ground running when i get to the office :)"

"Riding is great - but not just to work. The supermarket and corner shop runs seem quicker on a bicycle than getting in the car. Put a basket on the front or a rack on the back!"
