Scrap income thresholds for students receiving an allowance
Students receiving a student allowance can only earn a maximum of $192 before tax per week, add this to approximately $180 received from the government in Student Loan and Allowance, and full-time students with skills who also work part-time are earning less than someone working full-time on the minimum wage.
This is also annoying for employers who employ students as they need to manage their hours carefully, and sometimes desperately need their skills.
Scrapping these thresholds should allow students to become less dependent on their loans and their parents.
